we are again offering Women’s House Building Workshops.

If you are looking for a creative, healing or rejuvenation retreat,

our beautiful GuestHouses

are available for private retreats all year.

Adobe Building Intensives

10-day / 9-night

Friday May 29 – Sunday June 7

Friday June 19 – Sunday June 28

Friday July 10- Sunday July 19

Friday July 31 – Sunday August 9

Friday August 21 – Sunday August 30

 

Workshops run Friday to the following Sunday

9 incredible nights & 10 full-spectrum days

INCLUDES lodging, food, materials, instruction, activities

plus access to land & facilities  

  

Oh what incredible fun

Come and build cabins with a wondrous group of other women.  Put your hands to the wood and clay and learn by doing.  Stay extra days if you are able.  If you cannot come for the entire 10 days, you can probably make arrangements with Jae for a shorter stay. 

 Adobe Building Workshops are facilitated by Jae Haggard (take link for photos and more info) who has built houses or other buildings for women in a range of designs in several states since 1974.   Deliciously Full Weeks.

 

Included in each Adobe Building Week is a review of basic construction principles, techniques, safety and tool use.   YOU CAN Build a house. 

 

We figure about 5-7 hours of a spectrum of hands-on construction experience & instruction 6-7 or your 10 days.   We want to leave lots of opportunity for questions and rest as well as other activities and  connecting.   Learn by Doing

During each Intensive we plan a spectrum of experience such as

o      Adobe plasters & walls

o      Post & beam support systems & roofs

o      Decks & floors

o      Doors & windows

o      Frame construction—framing, sheathing, insulation

o      Electrical wiring

o      Trim & sealing

o      Rock work

 

We will focus on four projects

o      WindSong.  Adobe plaster, deck, roofs, rock work and finishing work on the marvelous cabin participants built last year. 

o      Bluebird.  Sheathing, electric, insulation, doors, windows, floor, rock work and adobe plaster on our GuestHouse Dorm.

o    Field House.  Finish work on the sweet 12x20 Cabin we renovated from an old shed during the 2008 Workshops. the ground up new adobe cabin  

o     Ramada.  Post & beam ramada with roof that will be the frame for our next adobe cabin.

 

Naturally, the basic rhythm of each day includes great meals, relaxation, hot tubs, hikes, singing, games, conversation & more.  A Wonderful Full-Spectrum of Activities & Alone Time

We are a wild plant and animal sanctuary and we honor this lands and the plant, animal and mineral peoples who live here.

Our constructions is nontoxic and green.  Our air and water are wonderfully pure.  To maintain this preciously healthy and healing environment, we ask you to leave all scented products at home.  We gladly provide unscented and natural home care as well as body care products for your use.

 

We value foods that are organic, whole, local and unprocessed.  Our meals are vegan with dairy on the side and occasional meat meals available.  Tasty is high on our list too, smile.

 

We interact from our authentic Selves, wanting to be present to each other, so we ask you to leave alcohol and illegal drugs at home.  We are considering a designated cigarette area removed from buildings and activities.

 

We are sorry that we cannot usually accommodate children.  With advance arrangements we can sometimes accommodate an animal companion.
